The Role:As a Team Lead / Sr. System Analyst, you will be part of the IT/OT on board System Platform team within the Damen division Workboats. You will work on the next digital innovation of the Damen Ship’s Automation Suite that controls core technologies in Damen-built Workboats and brings digital value to improve the operational excellence of our customers.As a team lead, you will be coaching, supporting, and providing advice to the system analyst team. Being part of the Tactical Management Team, you will provide input for the technology roadmap and prioritizing of the agenda, report the status of the running projects, while thinking along how to constantly improve the way of working.
Besides your role as team lead, you will as senior system analyst design standardized software systems and controls given a set of requirements, ready for the digital age, for Workboats. You will be deeply involved during the development and standardization of the technology for the workboats portfolio by other system platforms, ensuring the digital integration is being done and is being documented with standardized, modular and cyber secure software as result.You will work in multi-disciplinary teams and in close cooperation with the System owner(s) IT/OT on board, the software development team and the operational IT/OT on board team.
Key Accountabilities:
In this exciting role you will be active in:
  • Coaching and Support: Coaching, supporting, and providing advice to the system analyst team during the development of technology. This also includes reviewing chosen technical solutions and providing feedback and advice.

  • Project Management and Planning: Managing budget, planning, progress, quality, and risks of technology development projects. This also includes managing own development projects as a senior system analyst and supporting the Management Team IT on board by providing input for the technology development roadmap and prioritizing the agenda.

  • Digital Integration and Standardization: Responsible for the digital integration of new technology and standardization of modular and scalable software for the system families, variants, and options covering the needs of the complete Damen Workboats portfolio. This includes setting digital requirements for technology by considering business needs and market opportunities, and converting requirements to functional and technical designs.

  • Development and Implementation: Acting as the digital "product owner" for your domain, delivering input to the software development team to develop software, and delivering standard and high-quality software ready to be configured and deployed on board by the operation team. This also includes guiding the development of technology with suppliers and partners by setting needs and requirements and reviewing technical solutions.

  • Knowledge Management and Support: Contributing to knowledge management by documenting knowledge in system principles, instructions, and trainings. This also includes advising and supporting the product platform teams with the selection and implementation of the technology into the ship types product portfolio, and writing detailed test and validation plans to ensure compliance with regulations and to validate the requirements during simulation and testing.

Ideal Candidate:You are hands-on and have a broad technology interest and capable to get the essence of functions and technical possibilities of the embedded platforms to translate it to concrete opportunities. Next to that,As a person you are:

  • You have the ability to coach, guide and influence others to a certain result or goal.
  • Decisive and at the same time flexible in your approach while working methodically.
  • Well able to manage expectations.
  • Willing to travel abroad (based in The Netherlands).
You have:
  • An academic level with a bachelor and/or master’s degree in a technical direction, e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Process Automation or Electrical Engineering or other technical study which involves integration of complex systems.
  • Experience in designing (embedded) software.
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies, like Scrum or XP.
  • Experience with the application of Systems Engineering principles.
  • You have a high-quality consciousness and accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills in English, Dutch is a plus.
